LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS CHORE

Op de valreep... dit kerststukje gemaakt.

At the last minute... I made this Christmas table centerpiece.

Sterren, Rendieren, Kerstdecoraties, Denneappels en de Kerstster
Stars, Reindeer, Ornaments, pine cones and poinsettia

De tafel is nog niet opgedekt voor ons kerstdiner maar hier alvast een glimp...

The dining table has not been covered for our Christmas dinner but here's a glimpse ...

Tafelsetting... de borden van Pottery Barn, mijn nieuwe Venezia bestek en natuurlijk kristallen glazen.

Amuse, Voorgerecht, Tussengerecht, Hoofdgerecht en Dessert begeleid door een wijnarrangement...

Ik hoef me dit jaar niet te bekommeren om het diner, het wordt bereid door onze oudste zoon 

(Chef kok). Dus... het wordt een VERRASSINGS-KERST-DINER

Ik ben een bofkont ; )

I don't have to worry about dinner this year, it's going to be prepared by our oldest son (Chef). 

So ... it's a SURPRISE-CHRISTMAS-DINNER

MAY YOU ALWAYS

Al surfend op het internet vond ik deze mooie kerst/nieuwjaarsgroet van de legendarische, radio-omroeper en New York's "Morning Mayor" Harry Harrison.

Surfing on the internet I found this beautiful holiday greeting from Legendary, radio announcer and New York's "Morning Mayor" Harry Harrison. 

As the holiday bells ring out the old year, and sweethearts kiss,  And cold hands touch and warm each other against the year ahead,  May I wish you not the biggest and best of life,  But the small pleasures that make living worthwhile.

Sometime during the New Year, to keep your heart in practice, May you do someone a secret good deed and not get caught at it. May you find a little island of time to read that book and write that letter And to visit that lonely friend on the other side of town.

May your next do-it-yourself project not look like you did it yourself. May the poor relatives you helped support remember you when they win the lottery. May your best card tricks win admiring gasps and your worst puns, admiring groans. May all those who told you so, refrain from saying, "I told you so.”

May all the predictions you’ve made for your first-born’s future come true. May just half of those optimistic predictions that your high school annual made for you come true. In a time of sink or swim, may you find you can walk to shore before you call the lifeguard. May you keep at least one ideal you can pass along to your kids.

If you order your steak medium rare, may it be so. And, if you’re on a diet, May someone tell you, “You’ve lost a little weight”, without knowing you’re on a diet. May that long and lonely night be brightened by the telephone call that you’ve been waiting for. When you reach into the coin slot, may you find the coin that you lost on your last wrong number. When you trip and fall, may there be no one watching to laugh at you or feel sorry for you.

And sometime soon, may you be waved to by a celebrity, Wagged at by a puppy, 

Run to by a happy child, And counted on by someone you love. More than this, mo one can wish you.

TIME TO ENJOY

Eindelijk klaar met de decoraties, nu breekt de tijd aan om ervan te genieten. Oh... wat hou ik van het kerst seizoen, buiten is het vredig, stil en koud, binnen is het licht en behaaglijk warm.

Finally finished with the decorations, now it's time to enjoy it. Oh ... how I love the Christmas season, outdoors peaceful, quiet and cold, inside it's light, cosy and warm.

De kerstboom is hetzelfde gebleven als vorig jaar.

The Christmas tree has remained the same as last year.

Om mijn zilverkleurige decoratie te laten matchen met de goud/bronskleurige ornamenten in de kerstboom, heb ik wat Hydrangea Annabelle uit mijn tuin toegevoegd. 

To match my silver decoration with the gold/bronze ornaments on the tree, I 've added some Hydrangea Annabelle from my garden.

Voor mijn verjaardag heb ik de Carson Plaid Dinner Plates gekregen van Pottery Barn en omdat ik zelf nog geen foto's heb gemaakt, eentje van Pottery Barn "geleend". Helaas waren de bordjes met "Deer in Snow" uitverkocht : (

For my birthday I got the Carson Plaid Dinner Plates from Pottery Barn and because I didn't have taken pictures yet, I "borrowed" one from Pottery Barn. Unfortunately the plates with

"Deer in Snow" sold out : (

Tijdens ons kerstdiner is mijn tafel gedekt met een wit ASA onderbord, zwart Ikea aardewerk bord, mijn nieuwe Carson Plaid diner bord en tot slot een wit VTwonen ontbijtbordje. De tafel decoraties zijn dit jaar aangepast aan mijn nieuwe aanwinst, rood, zwart en goud. Niet zo spectaculair als op de foto, maar deze dame is er heel erg blij mee. FIJNE ZONDAG !

Throughout our Christmas dinner my table will be covered with a white ASA underplate, Ikea black pottery plate, my new Carson Plaid Dinner plate and finally a white VTwonen breakfast plate. The table decorations are adjusted to my new acquisition this year, red, black and gold. Not as spectacular as in the picture, but I'm a very happy lady. HAVE A LOVELY SUNDAY !

CRANBERRY CHRISTMAS

Het is tijd om mijn huis in kerst sfeer te brengen maar niet zo uitbundig als andere jaren. De kerstboom is hetzelfde gebleven als vorig jaar, het enige wat ik toegevoegd heb zijn een paar kransen en kaarsen. 

It's time to decorate my house for Christmas but not as abundant as other years. The Christmas tree has remained the same as last year, the only thing I've added are a few wreaths and candles.

While making christmas decorations I'm listening to Bing Croby's White Christmas...

Ik ben dol op deze appels en ze kleuren zo mooi bij mijn veenbessen 

I love the apples and their color match so nicely with my cranberries

Wat glimmen ze mooi in de zon...

They shine so beautifully in the sun...

Een hartje van namaak veenbessen, maar dat mag de pret niet drukken...

A heart of artificial cranberries, but that shouldn't spoil the fun ...

EEN STUKJE KERST DECORATIE GESCHIEDENIS

Kerst ornamenten hebben hun oorsprong rond 1800 en natuurlijk hadden ze niet veel gemeen met de ornamenten van vandaag. De enige overeenkomst was dat in de kerstbomen decoraties hingen. Die ornamenten werden met de hand gemaakt van papier, in vorm gesneden harde koekjes en popcorn aan een touwtje. Nu vinden we allerlei ornamenten, eenvoudige en goedkope of dure prachtige collector's items en alles daar tussenin.

A  LITTLE  CHIRSTMAS  ORNAMENT  HISTORY

Christmas ornaments had their beginnings in the 1800's and, of course, didn't have much in common with the ornaments of today. The only similarity was the fact that the Christmas trees had decorations. Those ornaments were hand made from paper, hard cookies cut in shapes, and popcorn on a string. Now we find all kinds of Christmas ornaments; simple and inexpensive or exquisite expensive collectibles and everything in between.

Dit jaar ga ik even terug in de tijd en heb kerstversiering gemaakt door popcorn en veenbessen aan elkaar te rijgen. Een leuk klusje en met direct resultaat :)

This year I'm going back in time and made popcorn and cranberries on a string for some hand made Christmas decorations. A fun job and with immediate results :)

Het ziet er prachtig uit vind je niet?

NIFTY FIFTY Tryout

Ook ik zal moeten besparen de komende tijd, daarom heb ik vanmiddag een nifty-fifty (ook bekend als de plastic fanatstic) aangeschaft, in plaats van de duurdere lens die op mijn verlanglijstje stond. Hier is mijn fotoshoot bij weinig licht...

I also had to save more because of the cutbacks implemented by the government, so this afternoon I purchased a nifty-fifty (also known as the plastic fanatstic) instead of the more expensive lens on my wish list. I could not wait till tomorrow :) here's my photoshoot in low light ...
