CRANBERRY CHRISTMAS

It's time to decorate my house for Christmas but not as abundant as other years. The Christmas tree has remained the same as last year, the only thing I've added are a few wreaths and candles.

While making christmas decorations I'm listening to Bing Croby's White Christmas...

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the one I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
and childeren listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I love the apples and their color match so nicely with my cranberries

Wat glimmen ze mooi in de zon...

They shine so beautifully in the sun...

A heart of artificial cranberries, but that shouldn't spoil the fun ...

A  LITTLE  CHIRSTMAS  ORNAMENT  HISTORY
Christmas ornaments had their beginnings in the 1800's and, of course, didn't have much in common with the ornaments of today. The only similarity was the fact that the Christmas trees had decorations. Those ornaments were hand made from paper, hard cookies cut in shapes, and popcorn on a string. Now we find all kinds of Christmas ornaments; simple and inexpensive or exquisite expensive collectibles and everything in between.

This year I'm going back in time and made popcorn and cranberries on a string for some hand made Christmas decorations. A fun job and with immediate results :)

It looks gorgeous don't you think?

A beautiful post Barbara, I also have pared down on my decorating and it seems to get less and less each year. I do like to change a little from year to year because I get bored doing the same thing year after year. Guess I am not a gal of tradition or I am lazy not sure which. I love the idea of the cranberries and the popcorn, and simply love love love that crandberry heart. So pretty all of your images Barbara. Christmas blogs are so nice this time of year to see inside what everyone is doing. Love that.

Oh Barbara,
I think we are kindred spirits. I love to listen to Bing Crosby's White Christmas, and the movie White Christmas is my very favorite one. They used to string cranberries and popcorn to put on their trees long ago, and it is wonderful that you have used this tradition for your own home. Your candle looks so pretty. I am sure your house is so cozy and all decorated for Christmas. What a special, lovely post this is today.
